CORAM:

HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE ASHUTOSH KUMAR

O R D E R

% 11.10.2017 The petitioners who are majors and have married in Arya Samaj Mandir on 26.09.2017, have approached this court for seeking protection from the respondent No.4, who happens to be the father of petitioner No.1. It has been submitted on behalf of the petitioners that after the news of the marriage of the petitioners was communicated to respondent No.4, he reacted sharply and threatened the petitioners of being eliminated/killed in the name of honour of the family.

It has been submitted that the petitioner No.1 belongs to a caste which is different from that of the petitioner No.2. After the marriage, the petitioners came over to Delhi and are residing at the house of the elder brother of petitioner No.2, namely Sunny, who also is present in court along with the petitioners.

Ms. Kamna Vohra, learned ASC has filed a status report in court which has been taken on record. She submits that when the Police went to enquire from aforesaid Sunny, who is the brother of petitioner No.2, he is said to have expressed his ignorance about the marriage of the petitioners. This court has interacted with the petitioners and the brother of the petitioner No.2. They have stated that out of fear of the Police, the brother of the petitioner No.2 gave a statement that he is not aware of the marriage. In fact, he is accompanying the petitioners today in court. In that view of the matter, this Court directs the SHO of Police Station Jyoti Nagar to afford all protection to the petitioners.

The petitioners shall be given telephone numbers of two responsible officers of the Police Station Jyoti Nagar and in case of any distress call from the petitioners, it would be promptly responded to. The SHO of Police Station Jyoti Nagar shall also consider the feasibility of directing a beat constable to visit the house of the brother of petitioner No.2, at least once in two days for some time so that the ingress and egress of the persons in his house could be watched. With this observation and direction, this writ petition is disposed of.
