The petitioners have filed the present petition under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 for quashing of FIR No.0831/2016 under Sections 498-A/406/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (IPC), registered with Police Station Shakarpur, New Delhi and the proceedings emanating therefrom.

The petitioners and respondent No.2 submitted that the matter was settled between the parties on their own free will, without any force or coercion and the same facts stand mentioned in paragraphs 3 and 4 of the judgment dated 28.8.2017 passed by the learned Additional District Judge, Ludhiana.

The Investigating Officer ('IO'), who is present in Court, has identified the petitioners as well as respondent No.2 and has also verified the settlement arrived at between the parties as well as

photocopy of the Aadhaar Card of respondent No.2 and her photo on record.

The respondent No.2, present in the Court, stated that the settlement was arrived at between the parties on their own free will, without any force, pressure or coercion, in terms whereof payment of Rs.2,50,000/- has already been made and now nothing is payable in between the parties. Respondent No.2 submitted that she has no objection in case the FIR is quashed and the petition is allowed. 5.

In view of the aforesaid circumstances, the settlement arrived at between the parties, this Court is of the view that no fruitful purpose would be served in keeping the parties entangled in the criminal proceedings. Accordingly, in the interest of justice, FIR No.0831/2016 under Sections 498-A/406/34 IPC, registered at Police Station Shakarpur, New Delhi and all the consequential proceedings arising out of the FIR are quashed.

Petition is disposed of in above terms. CRL.M.A. 48195/2018 is also disposed of.
