Petitioner by the present petition seeks quashing of FIR No. 588 of 2014 under Sections 451/354/509/506 of the IPC, P.S. New Friends Colony, New Delhi.

It is contended that the alleged incident happened on the spur of moment and without any pre-meditation. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner has settled with respondent no. 2 - complainant through the process of mediation held at Delhi Mediation Centre, Saket Courts, New Delhi and a settlement agreement dated 10.10.2017 has been executed between the parties.

Respondent no. 2 who is present in person and represented by her counsel and is identified by the Investigating Officer submits that she has settled her disputes with the petitioner and that she does not wish to press charges against the petitioner as they have amicably settled all their disputes.

In view of the fact that the disputes between the parties have been settled, continuation of criminal proceedings will be an exercise in futility and justice in the case demands that the dispute between the parties is put to an end and peace is restored; securing the ends of justice being the ultimate guiding factor. It would also be expedient to quash the subject FIR and the consequent proceedings emanating therefrom.

In view of the above, the petition is allowed. The FIR No. 588 of 2014 under Sections 451/354/509/506 of the IPC, P.S. New Friends Colony, New Delhi and the consequent proceedings emanating therefrom are accordingly quashed.
