O.M.P.(MISC.)(COMM.) 57/2017 This petition under Section 29A(4) of the Arbitration & Conciliation Act, 1996 (hereinafter referred to the 'Act') has been filed jointly by the claimant and the respondent seeking extension of time for a further period of six months from 01.01.2018 to 30.06.2018 for passing of the Award in the arbitration proceedings that are pending between the parties. It is submitted that the disputes relate to a construction contract and voluminous documents have been filed by the respective parties before the Arbitral Tribunal and cross examination of the witnesses has also taken some time. It is submitted that time taken by the Arbitrator is due to the issues which have been raised in the proceedings.

In view of the above, I allow the present petition and extend the time for making the award till 30.06.2018.

The petition is allowed in the above terms.
