This writ petition complaints that security clearance in respect of the appointment of the respondent no.3-Capt. Hameed Ali to senior management positions of Jet Airways (India) Ltd. by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation was grossly belated. The writ petitioner has stated that it took eight years for the authority to complete scrutiny of security clearance for appointment after his appointment. A perusal of the writ petition would disclose that the authority cannot be faulted and that it was the airline which had sought clearance belatedly.
2.
Given the importance of the scrutiny which are required to be conducted by the DGCA, it is expected that they will ensure strict adherence and compliance of the statutory provisions, rules, regulations and directions.
3.
It is for the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to ensure that its rules, regulations and directions are strictly abided by. In view thereof, we are not inclined to keep this writ petition pending. 4.
This writ petition and applications are disposed of. ACTING CHIEF JUSTICE C.HARI SHANKAR, J JANUARY 10, 2018/kr
