This writ petition seeks issuance of writ of mandamus directing the Union of India to grant the status of martyr 'Shaheed' to the legendary national heroes, namely, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev with immediate effect.

The writ petitioner is unable to point out any statutory basis for the prayer made in the writ petition or statutory recognition of the expression 'Shaheed'.

In our view, no such writ can be issued.

This writ petition is therefore dismissed.
