By way of this writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, the petitioner is seeking direction to respondent Nos.1 to 3 to ensure the life & liberty of the petitioner and his family by providing police protection.

Status report has been filed by the State to the following effect:- "As far as the role of local police is concerned we have been authorized to intimate MCD about ongoing unauthorized construction taking place in the area only. Accordingly we intimated regarding the unauthorized construction. Whenever MCD officials demands force for demolition of unauthorized construction or removal of encroachment adequate police force is being provided.

It is further submitted that local police is providing adequate protection to the petitioner and his family members. The mobile no. of undersigned, I/C PP Majnu Ka Tilla and also W.P.(CRL) 2474/2015

the mobile no. of beat staff have been provided to the petitioner and his mobile no. was taken. The regular watch is being kept over the petitioner by the staff of PS Civil Lines." 3.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is satisfied with the assurance given by the State to provide him protection till the threat perception is there. It is further submitted that in view of the status report, the petitioner does not want to continue with the writ petition and the same may be dispose of accordingly.

As the State has assured to provide necessary protection to the petitioner till the threat perception is there, the writ petition is disposed of accordingly.
