The present is a petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India read with Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Cr.P.C.) praying as follows:-

"It is, therefore, most respectfully and humbly prayed before this Hon'ble High Court may most graciously be pleased to:- a) Issue a appropriate writ whereby directing the respondent No.1 to provide necessary protection to the petitioners.

b) Grant any other/further relief which this Hon'ble Court may deem fit and proper in the facts and circumstances of the case in the interest of justice."

Shama Parveen @ Meera Bai and Mohd. Karim, petitioner Nos.1 and 2 respectively, are both adults and have married each other of their own free will and desire on 01.11.2015 according to Muslim customs and ceremonies. Counsel for the petitioners states that since the girl originally professed Hinduism and converted to Islam in order to marry petitioner No.2, the girl's family is opposed to the union. The petitioners apprehend grave threat to their life and limb at the hands of the parents of petitioner No.1.

Mr. Mehra, learned Standing Counsel (Criminal), accepts notice on behalf of the official respondents and states that the facts stated in the present petition have been verified. Mr. Mehra, further submits that the Police shall afford adequate protection to the petitioners, a newly-wed couple, after

assessing the threat perception. The beat constable of the concerned area shall also be sensitized in this behalf. The telephone number of the SHO of the concerned police station as well as the beat constable shall be provided to the petitioners in order to enable the latter to contact the former in the event of any threat or apprehension.

Ordered accordingly.

In view of the direction that is being issued in the present petition, I do not think necessary to issue notice to respondent Nos.2 and 3 in the present petition, who are father and mother of petitioner No.1. 7.

With above directions the writ petition is disposed of. 8.

A copy of this order be given dasti under the signature of Court Master to counsel for the parties.
