This petition is filed seeking for grant of anticipatory bail to the petitioner, who is the accused, in Crime No.899 of 2017 on the file of Pendurthi Police Station, Visakhapatnam District. The offences alleged are under Sections 447, 354, 323 r/ w 34 IPC and Section 3(1)(f), 3(1)(g), 3(1)(r), 3(1)(s), 3(2)(va) of the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

Heard the counsel for the petitioner and the Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent.

The allegations in the complaint are that this petitioner along with other accused abused the de facto complainant in her caste name.

When there are specific allegations attracting the offences under the Act, in view of the embargo laid down under Section 18 of the Act, anticipatory bail cannot be granted. 5.

With the above observations, the Criminal Petition is dismissed. However, the petitioner can file a petition seeking for regular bail by surrendering himself before the court below. The court below shall dispose of the bail application, if any filed, expeditiously, preferably on the same day, subject to the pressure of other work.

As a sequel, the miscellaneous applications, if any pending, shall stand closed.
