The relief sought for in this writ petition is to declare the action of the respondents, in rejecting the petitioner's application for selection to the post of District Judges (Entry Level) on the ground that the name written in the application as "K.T. Royal" was not tallying with the Secondary School Certificate in which it was written as "T. Rayal", as arbitrary and illegal. This Court, by order in W.P.M.P. No.26990 of 2012 dated 25.7.2012, directed the respondents to issue a hall ticket to the petitioner, and permit him to appear for the District Judge (Entry Level) Direct Recruitment Examination scheduled to be held on 29.7.2012.
Sri S. Sriram, learned Standing Counsel for the High Court, would submit that, pursuant to the interim order, the petitioner was permitted to participate in the written examination held for selection of candidates to the post of District Judges (Entry Level); the petitioner was unsuccessful in the examination; and, the cause in the writ petition, does not therefore survive. As the relief sought for in the writ petition is to permit the petitioner to appear for the examination and as, though he was so permitted, he did not succeed in the written examination, the cause in the writ petition does not survive, and the writ petition has become infructuous. The writ petition is, accordingly, dismissed. The miscellaneous petitions pending, if any, shall also stand dismissed.
