The grievance of the petitioner is that he is being frequently called to the police station, though no crime is registered against him. Hence, the action of the respondents is arbitrary and discriminatory.

The petitioner sought a direction to the respondents not to interfere with his personal liberty by way of harassment to attend the police station by calling him to the police station for obtaining signatures and to present before them periodically or by way of detaining him in the police station or house arrest and not to participate in the ongoing election in any manner without following due process of law. This Court, by order dated 24.04.2014, granted the interim direction as prayed for. 3.

The interim direction granted by this Court sufficiently protects the petitioner.

Hence, the Writ Petition is disposed of in terms thereof. However, it is made clear that if any crime is registered against the petitioner and investigation is required to be conducted against him, the respondents shall follow the procedure in accordance with law. There shall be no order as to costs. Miscellaneous Petitions, if any, pending in this Writ Petition shall stand closed.
