When the matter is taken up for hearing, it is noticed that the petitioner is challenging the ac tion of the respondents in not promoting him as Assistant Secretary.

A perusal of the record discloses that the petitioner retired from service.

In view of the same, this Court is of the considered view that the cause in the writ petition does not survive for adjudication.

The writ petition is accordingly dismissed. No order as to costs.
