This Criminal Petition, under Section 482 of Cr.P.C., is filed by the petitioner/ accused, seeking to quash the proceedings in Crime No.22 of 2018 on the file of Unguturu Police Station, Vijayawada District, registered for the offences punishable under Section 498-A of I.P.C.

Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner/ accused, learned Assistant Public Prosecutor representing the 1st respondent-State and perused the record.

As per the First Information Report lodged with the police by the wife of the petitioner/ accused, there is allegation of demand for additional dowry of Rs.10,00,000/ - and also allegation of transfer of Acs.1.15 cents of lands by the de-facto complainant in favour of the petitioner/ accused. There are also other allegations showing the barbaric behaviour of the petitioner/ accused. Under these circumstances, it cannot be held that continuation of investigation is abuse of process of law. The allegations require investigation. The Criminal Petition is devoid of merit and is liable to be dismissed.

Accordingly, the Criminal Petition is dismissed. Miscellaneous petitions, if any, pending in this criminal petition shall stand closed.
