Common Order :

These three Writ Petitions have been filed assailing the reduction of number of wards from 200 to 150 in respect of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation for the forthcoming elections.

At the hearing, the learned Advocate-General for the State of Telangana placed before the Court, G.O.Ms.No.123 Municipal Administration & Urban Development (C1) Department, dated 28-09-2015, whereunder the State Government has amended Rule 3 of the Andhra Pradesh Muncipal Corporations (Fixation of Strength of Elected Members) Rules, 2005.

As reduction of the number of wards to 150 is based on the above amendment, the petitioners would not be entitled to any relief unless the above Rule is questioned. Having realised this fact, the learned Counsel for the petitioners have agreed for closing the Writ Petitions with liberty to their clients to file fresh Writ Petitions for questioning the validity of the said Rule.

In view of the above, the Writ Petitions are closed with liberty to the petitioners in terms of the prayer made. As a sequel to closure of the Writ Petitions, Miscellaneous Petitions, pending if any, stand disposed of as infructuous. ______________________ (C.V.Nagarjuna Reddy, J) Dt: 5th November, 2015 LUR
