This Criminal Petition, under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, is filed by the petitioners/ A.1 to A.7 to quash the FIR in Crime No.8 of 2019 of Burgampahad Police Station, Bhadradri District registered for the offences punishable under Sections 143, 294(b), 323 and 379 read with 149 of IPC and Section 3(2)(va) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (PoA) Amendment Act, 2015 (for short 'the Act').

Heard the learned counsel for the petitioners/ A.1 to A.7, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor representing the 1st respondentState and perused the record. 3.

It is contended that the petitioners/ A.1 to A.7 are innocent persons and are falsely implicated in this case. There are no grounds to register the FIR and continuation of investigation is an abuse of process of law and ultimately, prayed to allow the petition as prayed for.

Learned Additional Public Prosecutor representing the 1st respondent/ State opposed the grant of relief sought by the petitioners/ A.1 to A.7 and contended that there are specific allegations against the petitioners/ A.1 to A.7. 5.

All the names of the petitioners/ A.1 to A.7 are found in the First Information Report dated 11.01.2019. There are allegations of attack, abuse and disturbance in a meeting conducted on the eve of election of Gram Sarpanch. It cannot be said that there are no

grounds to register the FIR. In the circumstances of the case, the registration of FIR and continuation of investigation is not an abuse of process of law. Hence, the petition does not merit consideration. 6.
