This Criminal Petition, under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, is filed by the petitioner/ accused seeking to quash the proceedings in C.C.No.358 of 2005 on the file of Special Judge Under Prevention of Corruption Act for Speedy Trial of Cases of Embezzlement of Scholarships Amounts in Social Welfare Departments Etc., Nampally, Hyderabad, by which, the petitioner/ accused is being prosecuted for the offences alleged under Section 420 I.P.C. and Section 12 (1) (b) of the Indian Passport Act, 1967.

Heard learned counsel for the petitioner/ accused and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor representing the respondent/ State. Perused the record.

As per the material placed on record, the petitioner/ accused obtained passport bearing No.A-5542678 from the office of LW.4 stating that he was a businessman in construction field by suppressing that he was a Government servant working as Senior Accountant in the office of the Deputy Director of Social Welfare Department, Hyderabad, at the relevant point of time.

Under these circumstances, it cannot be said that there are no grounds to proceed against the petitioner/ accused for the

Dr.SA,J Crl.P.No.1381 of 2019 offences alleged. Hence, the petition is devoid of merit and is liable to be dismissed.

Accordingly, the Criminal Petition is dismissed. Miscellaneous Petitions, if any, pending in this Criminal Petition shall stand closed.
