This Criminal Petition is filed praying this Court to enlarge the petitioner on bail who is arrayed as accused No.1 in Cr.NCB.F.No.48/1/1/2024/NCB/HZU on the file of the I Additional Sessions Judge, Medchal Malkajgiri District, at Kushaiguda, registered for the offences punishable under Sections 8(c) r/w 20(b)(ii)(C), 28 & 29 of NDPS Act.

The brief facts of the case revolve around seizure of 700 Kgs of ganja. Alleging the involvement of petitioner in the same, he was implicated as accused in the crime. 3.

Heard Sri P.Vikasraj, learned counsel for petitioner, and Sri Ramachandra Reddy, learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing on behalf of the respondent - State. 4.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner has been languishing in judicial custody since 12.04.2024 and while averring that petitioner has been cooperating with the prosecution, he prayed the Court to grant bail to the petitioner by allowing this criminal petition. 5.

On the other hand, learned standing counsel for NCB, opposed the submissions made by the learned counsel for the petitioner stating that the petitioner was implicated in the crime for his alleged active involvement in the possession of contraband. He lamented that the trial in the matter has not commenced yet as the petitioner has been seeking adjournments constantly on the ground of engaging a counsel. Therefore, he prayed the Court to dismiss the criminal petition.

Having regard to rival submissions made, and on going through the material placed on record, this Court deems it fit to dispose of this criminal petition with a direction to the petitioner to engage a counsel and cooperate with the trial Court for early disposal of matter. Further, the trial Court is directed to conclude the trial in the matter at the earlierst.

With the above directions, this Criminal Petition is disposed of.

Miscellaneous applications, if any pending, shall stand closed.
