ORDER:
This writ petition is filed for a mandamus to declare the seizure of 570 bags of BPT paddy seeds each weighing 30 kgs (171 quintals) together with lorry bearing registration No.TN 23F 6583 on 02.08.2009 as illegal and arbitrary. This Court by interim order, dated 18.08.2009, has directed release of the
seized paddy and lorry subject to the petitioner furnishing bank guarantee to a tune of Rs.2,00,000/-.
At the hearing, the learned Assistant Government Pleader for Civil Supplies (AP) submitted that following the above seizure, proceedings under Section 6-A of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 were initiated and the seized stock was partly confiscated on 09.02.2013.
In the light of the above subsequent events, the cause in the writ petition does not survive for adjudication. The writ petition is accordingly disposed of as infructuous.
As a sequel to disposal of the writ petition, W.P.M.P.No.21716 of 2009 shall stand disposed of as infructuous.
