ORDER

This writ petition is filed challenging the proceedings dated 18.08.2017 issued by the 2nd respondent-District Collector removing the petitioner as Sarpanch of the Gram Panchayat, Narayankhed, in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 249 (1) of Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Act, 1994 (Telanga Adaptation) Order, 2014.

Since the petitioner has an alternative remedy of appeal against the impugned order, this Court is not inclined to entertain the present writ petition. However, the petitioner is at liberty to file an appeal within one week from today. As and when such an appeal along with stay application is filed, the stay application shall be taken first and disposed of as expeditiously as possible, but not later than two weeks. In view of the order of removal and in view of the submission made by the learned Government Pleader that charge was handed over to the Upa-Sarpanch, in the absence of any finding with regard to the same, there shall be status quo existing as on today for a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of copy of the order. Accordingly, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
