SMT JUSTICE T.RAJANI CRIMINAL PETITION No.2589 OF 2018 ORDER:

This Criminal Petition is filed seeking for grant of bail to the petitioner/ accused in Crime No.2/ ACB-KNR/ 2018 of ACB Karimnagar Range Police Station, Karimnagar.

The offence alleged is under Sections 7 & 13 (1)(d) r/ w 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. 3.

Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner, learned Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent-State, and perused the record.

The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner being Village Revenue Officer has taken bribe of Rs.18,000/ -. 5.

Learned Public Prosecutor submits that the investigation is still in progress and the statements of witnesses under Section 164 Cr.P.C. have to be recorded. He further submits that if the petitioner is enlarged on bail, there is likelihood of influencing the witnesses.

Hence, considering the above, this Court opines that this is not a fit case for grant of bail to the petitioner/ accused and this Criminal Petition is devoid of merit and is liable to be dismissed.

Accordingly, this Criminal Petition is dismissed. As a sequel, the miscellaneous applications, if any pending, shall stand closed.
