HON'BLE SRI JUSTICE T. VINOD KUMAR WRIT PETITION No.9102 of 2019 ORDER:

This writ petition is filed seeking Writ of Mandamus to correct the surname of the petitioner as "MADDURI" instead of "MAFDDURI" by removing the letter 'F' in the SSC Certificate pursuant to his representation dt.06.10.2018 and issue a modified SSC Certificate in favour of the petitioner.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the surname of the petitioner is "MADDURI" and not "MAFDDURI" and hence the petitioner seeks for deletion of the letter 'F' from his surname, which is appearing in the SSC Certificate issued by respondent No.1. Learned counsel would further submit that in support of his claim, the petitioner has enclosed Adhar Card of the petitioner's father and also the PAN Card of his father. It is also contended that in the Bonafide/Conduct Certificate issued by the School where the petitioner pursued his initial schooling and also the Studentship and Conduct Certificate issued by the last school from where the petitioner appeared for SSC Examination also indicate the surname of the petitioner as "MADDURI", instead of "MAFDDURI". Learned counsel for the petitioner, therefore, submits that the surname of the petitioner requires correction as "MADDURI" and a modified SSC Certificate be issued in favour of the petitioner with correct surname.

On the other hand, the learned Government Pleader for School Education would submit that if the petitioner makes a

TVK,J W.P.No.9102 of 2019 representation by enclosing the necessary proof of documents to respondent No.1, the same would be looked into inasmuch as the respondent authorities could not verify the original records of the school from where the petitioner pursued his higher education upto SSC, as the same stands closed since 2008. In view of the said submission, this writ petition is disposed of granting such liberty to the petitioner to approach the respondent authorities concerned by making a representation for correction of his surname along with necessary proof of documents within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Upon such representation being received, the respondent authorities shall consider the same and direct the concerned to make necessary correction of surname of the petitioner as "MADDURI" in the SSC Certificate and issue a modified/corrected SSC Certificate in favour of the petitioner with correct surname within a period of four weeks thereafter. No order as to costs.

Miscellaneous petitions, if any, pending in this writ petition shall stand closed.
