THE HONOURABLE SRI JUSTICE RAJA ELANGO WRIT PETITION No.41299 of 2016 ORDER:

This writ petition under Article 226 of Constitution of India is filed seeking a direction to quash the proceedings in FIR No.129 of 2016. The case of the petitioner is that the 7th respondent lodged the present complaint against the petitioner alleging that the petitioner was a top journalist in internal rankings of Eenadu for five years and that one of the statements of the petitioner caused hurt to the press club members. Basing on the said complaint, respondents 5 & 6 registered the same as FIR No.129 of 2016 for the offences under Sections 354, 323, 506 read with 34 IPC. The main grievance of the petitioner is that respondents 5 & 6 are harassing and threatening the petitioner and confining the petitioner in police custody for hours together without assigning any reason.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted already the petitioner has lodged a complaint against the 7th respondent. Considering the grievance of the petitioner, the 6th respondent is directed to complete the investigation in FIR No.129 of 2016, as expeditiously as possible and file a final report, if any, either way in accordance with law, without arresting the petitioner. The petitioner is directed to report before the 6th respondent as and when required by the 6th respondent for the purpose of investigation. Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
