THE HON'BLE SRI JUSTICE CHALLA KODANDA RAM CONTEMPT CASE No. 590 OF 2018 O R D E R:

This contempt case is filed alleging non-implementation of the order, dated 25.01.2018, passed by this Court in W.P.No.2118 of 2018.

This Court disposed of the above said writ petition taking into consideration the limited grievance of the petitioner that respondent No.2 in the writ petition had not taken any action on the complaint, dated 04.12.2017, submitted by him. Essentially, the petitioner required respondent No.2 to take action on the allegations made against the Sarpanch, Kommala Gram Panchayat. Respondent No.2 filed a counter-affidavit stating that after taking cognizance of the offences on the basis of the complaint, necessary action has been taken against the Sarpanch and proceedings, dated 16.04.2018, were issued withdrawing his cheque-drawing powers.

Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned counsel for the respondents.

Respondent No.2, on finding that certain irregularities have been committed by the Sarpanch, cannot wash away his hands by merely withdrawing his cheque-drawing powers. As the proceedings under Section 249 of the Telangana Panchayat Raj Act have already

been initiated, the same have to be taken to its logical end, by duly following the prescribed procedure.

Since the scope of contempt is limited, this Court is satisfied that respondent No.2 has taken action on the complaint lodged by the petitioner. Hence, the contempt case is closed. Consequently, miscellaneous applications, if any shall stand closed.
