The grievance of the petitioner concern is that its application for grant of a prospecting licence over an extent of 1.785 hectares in Sy.Nos.201 and 233 of Komaragunta Village, Vedurukuppam Mandal, Chittoor District, has not been disposed of. This application was made on 29.10.2001 and was also recommended by the Assistant Director of Mines and Geology, Chittoor, and the revenue authorities. However, it is stated that the application is pending consideration before the Director of Mines and Geology, Andhra Pradesh. Despite passage of over nearly three years, the respondents have not chosen to file a counter.

However, the learned Assistant Government Pleader for Mines and Geology, upon instructions, informed this Court that the application of the petitioner is still pending consideration before the authority.

In that view of the matter, the writ petition is disposed of

directing the Director of Mines and Geology, Andhra Pradesh, to consider the petitioner's application dated 29.10.2001 in the light of the recommendations made by the authorities concerned and pass appropriate reasoned orders thereon in accordance with law. This exercise shall be completed within four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

Pending miscellaneous petitions, if any, shall stand closed in the light of this final order. No order as to costs. ____________________ JUSTICE SANJAY KUMAR 23rd June, 2015 IBL
