This Writ Petition is filed praying to grant the following relief: "... to issue an order or direction more particularly one in the nature of writ of Mandamus declaring the action of the respondents in not promoting petitioner to the post of Record Tracer/Routine Clerk in spite of eligibility and not fixing his seniority at Golkonda Region in spite of his option by extracting work since 28 years vide Proc.No.PD1/785(1)/07-PO.II, dated 07.11.2008, by holding that the option made by him in the year 1989 is not in the prescribed formant as illegal, unjust and arbitrary and as such liable to be set aside in the interest of justice with a consequential direction to the respondents herein to promote the petitioner as Record Tracer/Routine Clerk with all consequential benefits and pass such other order or orders as this Hon'ble Court may deem fit and proper in the circumstances of the case."

When the matter is taken up, learned standing counsel for the respondent - Corporation produced the copy of office order dated 29.05.2010 whereunder the petitioner was promoted as Record Tracer. He also placed before this Court the photocopy of the death certificate issued by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation evidencing death of the petitioner on 17.01.2012. However, no steps are taken to bring the legal representatives on record.

Since the cause of action itself does not survive for adjudication, as the petitioner was granted promotion and later died, the Writ Petition is dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs.
