dated 31.03.2012 passed by the Assistant Director of Mines and Geology, Karimnagar, directing the Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation to stop quarrying operations until further orders. This order was passed keeping in mind the interim orders passed by this Court in W.P.Nos.18822 of 2011 and 29487 of 2011. Sri K.V. Subba Reddy, learned counsel, produced a copy of the final order dated 22.12.2014 passed by a Division Bench of this Court in W.P.No.18822 of 2011 closing the writ petition leaving it open to the State to look into the problem of quarrying of sand. The interim order passed in the said writ petition therefore does not survive. However, no information is forthcoming as to the other writ petition mentioned by the Assistant Director of Mines and Geology, Karimnagar.

The learned Assistant Government Pleader for Mines and Geology informed this Court that the State had come up with a new policy in relation to sand mining under G.O.Ms.No.3, Industries and Commerce (Mines-I) Department, dated 08.01.2015, and that it would be open to the petitioner companies to procure sand as per their requirement from the Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation Limited in accordance with the said policy.

As the impugned order dated 31.03.2012 would no longer survive at this late point of time and all the more so, as the interim orders passed by this Court in the earlier writ petitions may not continue to have relevance in the light of the new sand mining policy, the writ petitions are disposed of leaving it open to the petitioner companies to take note of the new sand mining policy and take steps in accordance therewith for procuring their requirements of sand. The writ petitions are therefore closed. Pending miscellaneous petitions shall also stand closed. No order as to costs.
