When the matter is taken up for hearing, learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents had submitted that the petitioner has expired during the pendency of this Writ Petition. Learned counsel for the petitioner had also not disputed the same. In view of the above said submission, the cause in the Writ Petition does not survive as the petitioner had challenged the punishment of reduction of his basic pay from Rs.6210/- to Rs.5,990/- vide orders dated 1.7.2004.

In the absence of any legal representatives being brought on record, this Writ petition cannot be decided on merits. Accordingly, the Writ Petition is dismissed as abated. Pending miscellaneous petitions, if any, shall stand dismissed. No order as to costs.
