THE HON'BLE SRI JUSTICE SANJAY KUMAR WRIT PETITION NO.25271 OF 2015

O R D E R

The grievance of the petitioner is as to the maintenance of a rowdy sheet in his name on the file of Bhongir Town Police Station, Nalgonda District. It is his complaint that by report dated 03.10.2014, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Bhongir, recommended that the rowdy sheet be discontinued but despite the same, no action has been taken.

The Superintendent of Police, Nalgonda District, furnished written instructions dated 05.10.2015 to the office of the learned Government Pleader for Home stating that four criminal cases, in which the petitioner was involved, ended either in acquittal or were referred as false/undetected. Basing on this involvement, a rowdy sheet in the name of the petitioner was stated to have been opened as long back as in the year 1998. It is presently extended up to 31.12.2015. Referring to the report dated 03.10.2014 addressed to him by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Bhongir, the Superintendent of Police stated that a fresh enquiry report had been solicited from the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Bhongir Division, and once the same was received, the case of the petitioner would be reviewed.

Learned Assistant Government for Home informed this Court that a review meeting in this regard would be held during the month of December, 2015. In that view of the matter, the writ petition is disposed of directing the Superintendent of Police, Nalgonda District, to review the case of the petitioner in terms of the necessity to maintain a rowdy sheet in his name in the light of the earlier report dated 03.10.2014 furnished by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Bhongir, and the fresh report, which is yet to be submitted by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Bhongir, and take appropriate action in the matter as per the relevant standing orders. This exercise shall be completed expeditiously and in any event, not later than the end of January, 2016. Pending miscellaneous petitions shall stand closed in the light of this final order.

No order as to costs.
