Heard. With the consent of learned counsel for the petitioner and learned Government pleader, the writ petition is disposed of at the admission stage.

The vehicle of the petitioner was seized by the Assistant Motor Vehicles Inspector, pointing out several irregularities. One of the more serious allegations made is that on physical inspection of the vehicle, Chasis number was not tallying with the registration particulars available with the Registering Authority on vehicle registration bearing No.AP 10 U 9258.

This is a serious allegation and when such serious allegation is made petitioner cannot ask for the custody of vehicle, unless petitioner satisfies the competent authority about the error in the difference in chasis number as compared to registration particulars.

Learned counsel for the petitioner sought to take the plea that a day before check, the vehicle was purchased from the previous owner and all the documents of the vehicle could not be secured from the previous owner.

Purchasing of vehicle is entirely different from running of vehicle with different chasis number. The petitioner claims that he will satisfy the competent authority as to how a different registration number is mentioned as compared to the Original chasis number as available with the Transport authorities.

Having regard to the above, liberty is granted to the petitioner to file an application before Regional Transport Officer, showing all the relevant material to justify that the vehicle belongs to petitioner and that Chasis number is actually tallying with the registration number of the vehicle. It is needless to observe that as and when petitioner submits such application to the Transport authorities with all the supporting documents, the competent authority shall consider the same and pass appropriate orders within a period of two weeks, from the date of filing of such application.

With the above observations, the Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.

Miscellaneous petitions, if any, pending in this writ petition shall stand closed.
