THE HON'BLE THE ACTING CHIEF JUSTICE RAMESH RANGANATHAN AND THE HON'BLE SRI JUSTICE P.NAVEEN RAO Contempt Case No.939 of 2016 ORDER: (Per the Hon'ble The Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan) The order, violation of which is alleged in this contempt case, is the order in W.A.Nos.278 and 279 of 2016 dated 26.04.2016 wherein this Court, while disposing of the Writ Appeals as infructuous, observed that it was open to the appellants to make an application seeking appropriate permission/action and, if any such application was made, it was their hope and trust that the Director General of Police would consider the same in proper perspective and dispose it of as expeditiously as possible within a period of three weeks from the date of the application.

While granting liberty, the Division Bench made it clear that they should not be understood to have expressed any opinion on the right of the appellants to make such an application and, while dealing with the application that would be made by the appellants, it was open to the Director General of Police to seek reports from all concerned, if necessary. The Division Bench further made it clear that the Director General should consider the appellants' application on merits and in accordance with law.

While there is no positive direction by the Division Bench in the order violation of which is alleged in this contempt case, the learned Advocate General would place before us a copy of the proceedings of the Director General of Police, Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad dated 20.06.2016 rejecting the appellants' application for grant of permission.

In view of the order passed on 20.06.2016, we see no reason to proceed against the respondent under the Contempt of Courts Act. The Contempt Case is, accordingly, closed. Miscellaneous petitions pending, if any, shall also stand closed. _________________________________ (RAMESH RANGANATHAN, ACJ) _____________________ (P.NAVEEN RAO, J) 02nd September 2016 JSU
