When the matter is taken up for hearing, it is noticed that the petitioners had retired from service on attaining the age of superannuation and the writ petition is filed seeking promotions. Therefore, at this point of time, the case of the petitioners cannot be considered for promotion. However, if the petitioners feel that they are entitled for service benefits, they are at liberty to submit a representation to the respondents and upon such representation, the respondents shall consider the same and pass appropriate orders. With the above observation, the writ petition is disposed of. Consequently, miscellaneous petitions, if any, pending in the writ petition shall stand closed.
