Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned Government Pleader for Education.

Petitioner prosecuted Xth Class and having passed the examination he was granted Secondary School Certificate bearing HH 1200676. Petitioner alleges that in the said certificate, his father's name was typed as "Mohammed Khaja Kareem" whereas his father's name is "Mohammed Abdul Kareem". Petitioner submitted a representation on 23.09.2016 to the Secretary, Board of Secondary Education, requesting to correct the name of his father in the certificate. Alleging that the said representation is not acted upon, this writ petition is filed.

When the matter is taken up, learned Government Pleader produced written instructions, furnished to her by the Additional Joint Secretary to the Director of Govt. Examinations, Telangana. In the instructions furnished, it is pointed out that according to orders of the Government in G.O.Rt.No.604 Edn.(K) Department dated 23.04.1997 the competent authority to consider such request is Commissioner/Director of School Education. Whereas, no such request is made. Learned Government Pleader would submit that if any such application is submitted by the petitioner, the same would be considered by the Commissioner/Director of School Education.

Having regard to these submissions, the Writ Petition is disposed of granting liberty to the petitioner to submit application to the Commissioner/Director of School Education, requesting for correction of name of his father in the SSC certificate. As and when such application is made, the Commissioner/Director of School Education shall consider and pass appropriate orders in accordance with G.O.Rt.No.604 dated 23.04.1997, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of six (6) weeks thereafter. There shall be no order as to costs.

Miscellaneous petitions, if any, pending in this writ petition shall stand closed.
