HONOURABLE SRI JUSTICE RAJA ELANGO WRIT PETITION No.34244 of 2013 ORDER:

This writ petition is filed by the petitioners seeking a direction to the respondents to release all the benefits of rehabilitation and resettlement package to the submergence villages under Gandikota Project. 2.

The case of the petitioners is that in the year 2005, the State commenced construction of Gandikota project, as a result of which, about 24 villages got affected due to submergence. But the respondents have not provided the rehabilitation and resettlement packages. In spite of the representation made by the petitioners, the respondents have not taken steps to release the benefits. Hence, the petitioners filed this writ petition. 3.

Heard and perused the material available on record. 4.

The main grievance of the petitioners is that due to construction of Gandikota Project, their villages are submerged and in spite of their representation, the respondents have not been taken any steps to release the benefits of rehabilitation and resettlement package. 5.

Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and the grievance of the petitioners and in view of the fact that the representation made by the petitioners is pending, without expressing any opinion on merits of the case, this Court is inclined to pass the following order: "The respondents are directed to dispose of the representation of the petitioners dated 10.10.2013 as expeditiously as possible."
