In the present writ petition, challenge is to the action of the respondents in opening and continuing the rowdy-sheet against the petitioner herein.

According to the learned counsel for the petitioner, no criminal cases are pending as on date and the criminal cases registered against the petitioner earlier, all ended in compromise. On the other hand, it is submitted by the learned Government Pleader that there are three cases pending against the petitioner.

It is submitted by the learned counsel for the petitioner that the impugned action of the Respondents in registering and continuation of rowdy sheet against the petitioner is not in accordance with the provisions of Police Standing Order No.601 and the impugned action is violative of Articles 14 and 21 of the Constitution of India.

Taking into consideration the submissions of the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Pleader, this Court deems it appropriate to dispose of the writ petition, keeping it open to the petitioner to make appropriate application to the 2nd respondent for redressal of his grievance within a period of two weeks from today and if any such application is made, the 2nd respondent shall dispose of the same, strictly in accordance with law, within a period of four months thereafter. 5.

The writ petition is accordingly disposed of. As a sequel, the miscellaneous petitions, if any, shall stand closed. There shall be no order as to costs.
