This writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a Writ of Mandamus declaring the action of the respondents, especially respondents 2 to 4 in not considering the request of the petitioners for appointment of Permanent Panchayat Secretary to Narkullapadu Gram Panchayat, Amaravathi Mandal, Guntur District, as illegal and arbitrary.

Heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and the learned Government Pleader for Panchayat Raj. 3.

A perusal of the record reveals that the first petitioner is the Sarpanch, petitioners 2 to 7 are the ward members of Narukullapadu Gram Panchayat, Amaravathi Mandal. The grievance of the petitioners is that the post of 'Panchayat Secretary' was kept vacant since long time. The petitioners submitted representations to the fourth respondent for posting of 'Panchayat Secretary'. For one reason or other, the fourth respondent did not pass any orders on the representations of the petitioners.

At the time of arguments, the only relief sought by the learned counsel for the petitioners is to direct the fourth respondent to consider the representations of the petitioners

dated 29.07.2016 and 19.09.2016 as expeditiously as possible.

In view of the submission made by both counsel, this Court is not inclined to express any opinion touching the merits of the main case.

Having regard to the facts and circumstances of the case, the fourth respondent is hereby directed to dispose of the representations of the petitioners dated 29.07.2016 and 19.09.2016 as expeditiously as possible, preferably, within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order.

With the above direction, writ petition is disposed of. Consequently, Miscellaneous Petitions, if any, pending in this Writ Petition shall stand closed.
