The grievance of the petitioner in this case was that the Commissioner of Police, Vijayawada, the 2nd respondent, failed to

provide a gunman to protect his life.

No interim orders were granted by this Court in this writ petition. The very fact that there was no threat to the petitioner during the three years that this writ petition was pending clearly demonstrates that there was no cause for him to seek protection by way of a gunman at the cost of the State.

In that view of the matter, the writ petition is dismissed. This order shall however not preclude the petitioner from renewing his request in the event there is any real threat to his life and in the event such a request is made, the same shall be considered by the respondent authorities in accordance with law. Pending miscellaneous petitions, if any, shall also stand dismissed. No order as to costs.
