When the matter is taken up for hearing, learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the petitioners are seeking promotion to the post of Junior Scale officers and during pendency of the writ petition, they have retired from service on attaining the age of superannuation. In view of the submission made by the learned counsel for the petitioners, the cause in the writ petition does not survive. However, it is made clear that if the petitioners were considered for promotion during pendency of the writ petition, they shall not be disturbed. With the above observation, the writ petition is closed. Consequently, miscellaneous petitions, if any, pending in the writ petition shall stand closed.
