Learned counsel for the petitioners is however unable to cast any light on the statutory provision which requires the registration authorities to act at the behest of the petitioners and cancel the registered documents. In the absence of such a power being given to the registration authorities, the petitioners cannot complain of inaction on the part of the respondent authorities upon their request to undertake such cancellation. The writ petition is accordingly dismissed leaving it open to the petitioners to avail appropriate remedies in accordance with law before the competent forum. Pending miscellaneous petitions, if any, shall also stand dismissed. No order as to costs.
