ORAL ORDER:

Petitioners applied for the post of Junior Lineman. Their grievance necessitating institution of this writ petition was, while considering eligibility of the candidates for consideration for selection of Junior Lineman, the respondent organization was adopting the principle of giving weightage from the date of acquisition of ITI qualification and not considering the total length of service as contract worker for the purpose of awarding of weightage marks.

In the counter affidavit filed on behalf of respondents, it is averred that weightage marks of 45 i.e, 5 marks for every half year for a maximum period of 4 1⁄2 years was given to the in-service candidates basing on the length of uninterrupted service as a contract labour as on the date of pole climbing test and not from the date of acquisition of ITI qualification.

Learned counsel for petitioners states that in the selections conducted, petitioners 1, 2 and 4 to 7 have been selected and petitioner No.3 was found unfit and was not selected and in view of the same, no further orders are required to be passed in the writ petition.

Recording the submission of learned counsel for petitioners, writ petition is closed. No costs. Having regard to the same, miscellaneous petitions, if any pending, are closed.
