THE HON'BLE THE ACTING CHIEF JUSTICE RAMESH RANGANATHAN WRIT PETITION No. 14404 of 2009 ORDER:

None appears for the petitioner.

The relief sought for in this writ petition is to declare the selection process of the first respondent for admission into M.Sc (ASLP) in respondents 2 and 3 colleges, ignoring the petitioner's rank, as arbitrary and illegal; and to consequently direct the first respondent to consider the petitioner's application for admission into M.Sc (ASLP) in the third respondent college as per the rank allotted by the first respondent.

By its order dated 17.07.2009, this Court directed that, if counselling is held, the petitioner's case should also be considered subject to further orders of this Court.

As post graduation in M.Sc is a two year course, and the selection process relates to the year 2009, the two year period would have expired by 2011 more than six years ago. While it is not known whether the petitioner was also considered, it is evident that the cause in the writ petition does not survive, as the question of now considering the petitioner's case for admission into M.Sc course does not arise.

The writ petition is, therefore, dismissed as infructuous. Miscellaneous Petitions pending, if any, shall also stand dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs.
