O R D E R

The prayer of the petitioners is to direct the District Collector, Mahabubnagar District, to dispose of the petitioners' appeal. The record reflects that the appeal of the petitioners was filed on 23.07.2015. This appeal was preferred by them against the Endorsements dated 26.05.2015 issued by the Revenue Divisional Officer, Gadwal Division, at Gadwal, Mahabubnagar District.

Being the statutory appellate authority, it is not open to the District Collector, Mahabubnagar District, to keep such an appeal pending indefinitely. The very purpose of the statutory remedy of appeal would be rendered nugatory by such delay in disposal.

The writ petition is accordingly disposed of directing the District Collector, Mahabubnagar District, to consider the petitioners' appeal on merits, give due opportunity of hearing to the parties and pass appropriate orders thereon expeditiously and in any event, not later than one month from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Pending miscellaneous petitions shall stand closed in the light of this final order. No order as to costs.
