THE HON'BLE SRI JUSTICE S.V.BHATT WRIT PETITION No.19305 OF 2017 ORDER:

The prayer of the writ petition reads as follows: "......to issue appropriate writ, order or direction especially one in the nature of a Writ of Mandamus declaring the action of the respondents in not considering their representation dated 01-05-2017 for change of their surname as "chalapareddy" instead of "Rao", the surname of their mother Jyothi as "Rao" instead of "R" and the surname of their father Ramesh as "Chalapareddy" instead of "R" in the marks memo dated 31-05-2011 Roll No.4199857 of the petitioner No.1 & in the marks memo dated 21-05-2012, Roll No.4212430 of the petitioner No.2 being arbitrary, illegal, contrary to law and in violation of the well settled principles of natural justice and pass....." On 03.10.2017, this Court granted the following interim order:

"There shall be interim direction as prayed for. It is made clear that, if orders are not passed on the petitioner's representation dated 01.05.2017 on or before 31.10.2017, the respondent No.2 (Joint Secretary and Regional Officer, Chennai) shall personally be present in Court on 07.11.2017 at 2.30 p.m.

Post on 07.11.2017 in motion list."

The Assistant Government Pleader has produced copy of communication dated 20.07.2017 stating that the request of the petitioners has been rejected on account of not representing their grievance within the stipulated period. The statement is placed on record.

Writ petition is accordingly, disposed of. However, petitioners are given liberty to challenge the same, if aggrieved by the said order. No order as to costs.

Miscellaneous petitions, if any, pending, shall stand closed.
