HON'BLE THE ACTING CHIEF JUSTICE RAMESH RANGANATHAN Writ Petition No.13226 of 2007 ORDER:

None appears for Sri D.Balakishen Rao, Learned Counsel for the petitioners. Heard Sri R.Vinod Reddy, Learned Standing Counsel for the Telangana TRANSCO.

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to permit the petitioners to participate in the selection process for the post of Contract Junior Lineman pursuant to the Notification dated 08.06.2006 read with Notification of October, 2006. By way of an interim order this Court, after recording that 120 out of 153 vacancies had alone been filled and 33 vacancies are yet to be filled, directed the respondents to continue the petitioners in service, if there were 33 left over vacancies available in the category of Junior Lineman (Contract).

In the counter-affidavit, filed on behalf of the respondents, it is stated that the pre-requisite qualification, for the post of Junior Linemen (Contract), is SSLC/SSC/10th Class with ITI qualification in Electrical/Wiremen Trade or Intermediate Vocational Course in Electrical Trade; the first petitioner has not furnished proof of his possessing ITI electrical qualification; the second petitioner passed S.S.C. but possesses ITI in Fitter trade, and not in electrical trade; and both of them are ineligible to be considered for appointment as Junior Lineman (Contract). No reply affidavit is filed denying the assertions in the counter-affidavit.

As it appears from the counter-affidavit that the petitioners do not possess the qualifications prescribed for appointment as Contract Junior Linemen, they are not entitled to seek to be continued in service or to be appointed to the said post.

The Writ Petition fails and is, accordingly, dismissed. The Miscellaneous Petitions pending, if any, shall also stand dismissed. No order as to costs.
