THE HON'BLE SRI JUSTICE CHALLA KODANDA RAM WRIT PETITION No.8675 of 2008 ORDER:

In this Writ Petition, petitioner challenges the action of the respondent authorities in deducting certain amount towards compensation from the bills payable to the petitioner in the process of transportation of coal, on the ground that the same is to be paid to the family members of a workman under the provisions of the Workmen's Compensation Act, 1923. Today, when the matter is taken up, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner deposited certain amounts with the Commissioner for Workmen's Compensation, Kothagudem, and it may be given liberty to approach appropriate authorities seeking refund of the said amount. Heard learned Standing Counsel for Singareni Collieries Company Limited appearing for the respondents. In the light of the above, this Writ Petition is disposed of by giving liberty to the petitioner to approach the appropriate authorities, including the Commissioner for Workmen's Compensation, Kothagudem, to redress its grievance.
