This writ petition was filed seeking a direction to the respondent authorities to continue the petitioners as contract labour in Rayalaseema Thermal Power Project Ash Handling Plant Stage III, taking into account the length of their service. A consequential direction was sought to the respondent authorities not to disengage the petitioners without following seniority and as per the dates of continuous engagement.

By interim order dated 21.08.2012, this Court directed that in the event the respondents undertook engagement of contract labour in the Rayalaseema Thermal Power Project Ash Handling Plant Stage III, they shall consider the petitioners for such engagement on priority basis taking into account the length of their service. Though W.V.M.P.No.3641 of 2013 was filed by the respondents to vacate the said order, Sri P. Ravi Shanker, learned counsel for the petitioners, states that the Andhra Pradesh Power Generation

Corporation, Rayalaseema Thermal Power Project, addressed letter dated 16.04.2013 to the petitioners, wherein it undertook to consider their cases in the event it engaged contract labour, duly taking into account the length of their service.

In the light of this undertaking given by the respondent organization, no further orders are required to be passed in this writ petition.

The writ petition is accordingly closed. It shall be open to the petitioners to place such material as is available with them before the respondent authorities in proof of the length of the service rendered by them as contract labour and upon consideration of such material, it shall be open to the respondent organization to engage the petitioners in the event they undertake engagement of contract labour in future. Interim order dated 21.08.2012 shall stand vacated in the light of this final order. Pending miscellaneous petitions, if any, shall also stand closed. No order as to costs.
