Petitioner claims to have participated in Tournament at National Level Ball Badminton. Earlier, he played in Sub-Junior National Tournament; later in Junior National Tournament and was Junior National Player in the year 2016. In the year 2017, in Senior National Tournament, he was also recognized as a good player and claims to have played in South Zone Ball Badminton Championship thrice and in higher level event of Federation Cup Tournament. He therefore claims that he should be recognized as an outstanding sportsman. However, the sport of Ball Badminton is not included in the list of sports recognized by the Government for the purpose of extending reservation in public employment. Petitioner is deprived of his entitlement to secure public employment. Hence, the Writ Petition. 3.

According to learned counsel for the petitioner, the sport of Ball Badminton was earlier included in the list of sports to provide employment, but in the notification issued vide G.O.Ms.No.74, Youth Advancement, Tourism & Culture (Sports) Department, dated 09.08.2012, while notifying the list of sports eligible to seek employment under sports quota, the sport of Ball Badminton is not included. The Telangana Ball Badminton Association has been making representations, but so far no positive decision is made. He further submits that Telangana Ball Badminton Association made latest representation on 21.05.2018 addressed to the Secretary,

Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture Department, Hyderabad, the 1st respondent, and the same is pending consideration.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that petitioner is satisfied if the Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the 1st respondent to examine the claim of Telangana Ball Badminton Association regarding inclusion of Ball Badminton sport in the list of sports for extending reservation in public employment. 5.

Having regard to the said submission and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, the Writ Petition is disposed of directing the 1st respondent to examine the claim of Telangana Ball Badminton Association for inclusion of Ball Badminton sport in the list of sports, who can claim reservation in public employment, and to take appropriate decision and communicate the said decision to the Telangana Ball Badminton Association as expeditiously as possible preferably within a period of ten weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of the order. There shall be no order as to costs.

Miscellaneous Petitions, if any, filed in this Writ Petition shall stand closed.
