HON'BLE SRI JUSTICE V. RAMASUBRAMANIAN AND HON'BLE SRI JUSTICE A.SHANKAR NARAYANA A.S. No.4167 of 2003 JUDGMENT: (per Hon'ble Sri Justice V. Ramasubramanian) This regular appeal is filed by the State under Section 54 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1895, challenging the enhancement of compensation granted by the reference court to the extent of 80%.

2. Heard Sri A.V.Sivaiah, learned Government Pleader for the appellant.

3. It appears that the lands in question were acquired for major irrigation project known as 'Somasila Project'. The amount fixed as compensation by the Land Acquisition Officer was enhanced by the referring court to the extent of 80%.

4. Though, the State initially challenged the enhancement of compensation by filing regular appeals, the Government, later took a policy decision not to contest these appeals and announced it through their G.O.Rt.No.101, dated 20.02.2006. As a consequence, several appeals pending before this court were closed either before the Lok Adalat or before this court.

5. In one such of appeals, AS Nos.3031, 4113 and 4118 of 2003, a Division Bench of this court also approved the enhancement by a judgment dated 20.10.2014. The said judgment was followed by another batch, by a judgment dated 25.11.2015 in AS Nos.2693, 2826 and 3135 of 2003.

6. Therefore, following the same, this appeal is also dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs. Pending miscellaneous applications if any, in this appeal shall stand closed.
