Heard learned counsel for the petitioner as well as learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondent. 2.

The prayer sought in the writ petition is as under:- ".....to issue an appropriate Writ, order or direction more particularly one in the nature of Writ of Mandamus declaring the action of the respondent in not considering and disposing the petitioner appeal filed on 9.7.2014 against the orders rejecting the grant of arms license vide Memo dated 23.6.2014 as illegal consequently direct the respondent to dispose of the petitioner appeal within a period of one month, and pass such other order or orders."

It is the case of the petitioner that he is a businessman residing in the premises of house bearing No.23-1-865/11 at Moghalpura, Hyderabad. Due to frequent disturbances in the locality, for his self protection and to protect his family, he applied for arms license in the year 1988. After due enquiry, arms license was issued to the petitioner on 23.12.1988 and it was valid up to 01.02.1997. The said license was being renewed from time to time. In fact, due to his illhealth, the petitioner surrendered his arms license. However, he again applied for the license on 18.07.2013. The said application was rejected, vide memo, dated 23.06.2014. Against the said rejection orders, the petitioner filed a statutory appeal before the Principal Secretary for Home, Government of Telangana, on 09.07.2014. The said appeal is not disposed of till the date of filing of the writ petition.

Therefore, the writ petition is disposed of directing the respondent to dispose of the appeal filed by the petitioner against the rejection of arms license within one month from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No order as to costs.
