This writ petition is filed challenging the action of the respondents in interfering with the activities of the petitioner club in laying the card game of rummy and bridge (13 card game) though it is permissible.
Heard learned counsel for the petitioner.
Learned Assistant Government Pleader for Home appearing for respondents 1 to 4, basing on written instructions, submits that on 02.11.2017, the 4th respondent received information regarding the conducting of gambling in the petitioner club and on such information, the 4th respondent along with his staff, went to the petitioner's club and inspected the same and they did not found any illegalities in the petitioner's club and they went away by entering the same in the Register maintained by the petitioner club. He submits that the respondent police never interfered with any of the activities of the petitioner club after 02.11.2017. Recording the aforesaid submission of the learned Assistant Government Pleader, the writ petition is disposed of. It goes without saying that the respondent police shall not interfere with the lawful activities of the petitioner club. No order as to costs. As a sequel thereto, miscellaneous petitions, if any, pending in the writ petition, shall stand closed.
