Heard.

The petitioners complain of non-payment of ex-gratia with respect to the lands admeasuring Ac.3-50 cents in Sy.No.932/6 and Ac.3-50 cents in Sy.No.932/5 situated at Gundluru Village, Gudur Mandal, YSR Kadapa District, which were assigned to their father and the 2nd petitioner vide DForm patta Nos.167/88, dated 21-04-1975 and 60/88, dated 21-04-1975 respectively. The said lands were stated to have been acquired for the purpose of Gandikota Reservoir in 2010 and while all other assignees were paid compensation, the petitioners state that they were not paid any compensation so far. However, without approaching any of the authorities by making an attempt straight away the Mandamus is sought for in the present writ petition.

It is well settled that to seek a Mandamus the petitioners must specify that they made an attempt to approach the authorities concerned. Since no attempt is made by the petitioners by approaching the competent authority, it is not possible to entertain the writ petition as prayed for. Hence, the writ petition is dismissed. However, the petitioners are at liberty to make appropriate application before the competent authority and if any such application is received, the same shall be considered on it own merits. No costs.
